Laura Lowe

Laura Lee Lowe, 57, of Puako died Nov. 24, 2014, at her residence. Born Jan. 3, 1957, in Bellvue, Neb., she was a fine art consultant. Friends may call at noon Dec. 20 at 115 Puako Beach Drive for a potluck and celebration of life and scattering of her ashes. Loose flowers welcome.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Lowe of Waimea; brother, Michael (Carol) Warner of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sister, Terry Russ of Port Richey, Fla.; two nephews and one niece.

Kay Cera

Kay Naomi (Shoji) Cera, 71, of Papaikou died Nov. 25, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Oct. 31, 1943, in Hilo, she was retired from Pizza Hut and a member of Kealiiokamalu Church in Haleiwa, Oahu and Ke Kilohana O Ka Malamalama Church in Hilo.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. Dec. 20 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 5 p.m. service. A committal service will be held at noon Dec. 22 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by husband, Gilbert Cera of Papaikou; daughter, Sharmaine (Jason) Generalao of Las Vegas; sons, Gilbert (Loryfel) Cera of Las Vegas, Grant Cera of Mililani, Oahu, Garrett Cera of Honolulu; brothers, Tamotsu Arai of Hilo, Toshio (Sonia) Shoji and Dennis (Liza) Shoji, both of California; sister, Ellen (Roy) Kaluna of Naalehu; six grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Lin Loy Kuualoha Chang, 68, of Belmont, Calif. died Dec. 7, 2014, in Kalopa. She was born June 22, 1946 in Honolulu.

Betty Ann Herzog, 62, of Pahoa died Nov. 16, 2014, at Hospice of Hilo’s Pohai Malama Facility. Born June 16, 1952, in Michigan, she was a housekeeper for Waiakea Villas and a member of the YWCA.

Ben Sales, 86, of Hawi died Dec. 3, 2014, at home. Born Oct. 28, 1928, in Halaula, he was a retired maintenance worker for Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and a member of the Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He also was a member of the American Judo and Jujitsu Institute and the Kohala and Waimea Karate School.

Friends may call at 8 a.m. Dec. 20 at the Hawi Sacred Heart Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn. Burial will follow at Hawi County Cemetery.

He is survived by wife, Clara Sales of Kohala; daughters, Jessie (Jerry) Yamamoto, Zelda Sasaki, both of Kohala; son, Douglas (Deena) Sales of Oregon; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.
